Story
TV series set in the “Dune” universe that focuses on the lives of the Bene Gesserit. Whether they’re exploring the stars, escaping dystopias, or making the world a better place, these women are what science fiction is all about. Anderson. A prequel to the original Dune, it’s the first in the Great Schools of Dune trilogy, and tells the story of how the Sisterhood of Rossak evolved into the Bene Gesserit.
So here it is
Referenced in AniMat’s Crazy Cartoon Cast: The New Normal (2020). I wanted to keep it short and sweet, but I felt compelled to expand my thoughts. There was a time when writers knew how to weave exposition into a story without it feeling forced and contrived. I get that this is a first episode, but do they have to explain everything like it’s not common knowledge?
I guess we’ll see how it evolves
Watson (Valya), Mark Strong (Emperor), Travis Fimmel (Hart), and Sarah-Sofie Boussnina (Princess) deliver strong performances. I feel like the show is in good hands. The rest of the characters didn’t engage me. They move the story forward but are forgettable.
They did a wonderful job on the visuals
I had a hard time staying focused on the first episode. It felt like part of a whole that couldn’t be broken up. I’ll wait for the full season before binging more episodes. The CGI is top-notch, the costumes are perfect, the tone of Villeneuve’s vision is maintained and expanded.
