There it is!
Story
In pursuit of a serial killer, an FBI agent uncovers a series of occult clues that she must solve in order to end his terrifying killing spree. Many of the Longlegs' encrypted messages contain spelling mistakes and bad grammar after decoding. This is an homage to the Zodiac Killer, who was also known for his encrypted messages that contained typos, often making it difficult to decode his message.. Despite the film being set in the 1990s, the theme of "The Price is Right" ; ; that can be heard on TV is the version used since 2007. Longlegs: Oh!
Almost a birthday girl!
The credits are scrolling backwards (from top to bottom), perhaps with the intention of being consistent with a part of the story. Featured in Tyrone Magnus: LONGLEGS – Official Trailer – Reaction! (2024). Ding Dong Performed by Nicolas Cage Composed by Osgood Perkins. To say I was excited about this movie is an understatement.
WITH NICHOLAS CAGE?
I watched all the trailers, reviews and I was SO excited. A somewhat arthouse horror film about a serial killer that also happens to be satanic? Hell yeah! And to be fair, there are a lot of things I loved about this movie. The cinematography is GORGEOUS, if you like cinematic films this is for you.
The sound design was excellent and the concept interesting
All the performances are great, I love Nicholas Cage (although I wish he was in it more) and I loved the quirky protagonist. I was blown away by the beginning of the film. However, the plot and main twist in this movie really stumps me. As many have pointed out, this film has been mis-marketed. It’s not a serial killer movie, nor is it a scary movie.
But this movie really lacks suspense
It’s much more of a supernatural thriller and some might find it scary and disturbing, but I found it to be neither. The main idea of the movie is revealed early on, (how the murders happen) and the reveal at the end is just…huh? You don’t feel the stakes, the urgency, or any tension in the scenes, even when they might have tension. I hate to compare horror movies, but a kind of similar movie with its demonic aspect is last year’s Talk to Me, and that movie really shows how you can use that demonic concept to have a great amount of tension, urgency in the plot, and stakes with the characters. This movie feels like a mix of the silence of the lambs and the sinister, but it doesn’t really lean to either side of that and lacks suspense.
