A collection of strange characters in terrible situations who try to solve a maple syrup robbery to solve their financial problems
When maple syrup farmer Ruth Landry has her livelihood attacked by greedy competitors who were once her friends, she hatches a plan to get revenge and shake up the industry in a Quebec warehouse; five people are sentenced to prison. Ruth, whose husband is in a coma, has lost her right to sell maple syrup to a cartel run by Leonard. It turns out her husband has the right to harvest the syrup, so she is punished for illegally exercising his rights.
He is the sole guardian of the entire maple syrup supply
Remy, a kind of sad character, is the guard at the warehouse where all the syrup is stored and has been sneaking a barrel or two out of the warehouse at night, with a friend who is suddenly murdered. With Ruth in financial trouble, the only way forward is a theft on a much larger scale, and she and Remy involve Mike in the plan. Mike comes across as a strongman who can do big things.
The truth is quite different
And with all the personality clashes and confusion, he almost becomes the joke of the Keystone cops. Every time they seem to have things under control, problems arise, and their approach to solving problems is a big part of the humor. The cop leads into season two, so there are a lot of loose ends.
